Initiated by City Developments Limited (CDL), and championed by the late Mr. Kwek Leng Joo, a philanthropist and an avid photographer, the Singapore Young Photographer Award is the only national award for Singapore photographers between 13 to 25 years old.
Presented by CDL and organised by DECK, the much-awaited national photography competition is back and revamped with a focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), with attractive awards up for grabs! Whether you are an all-rounder, have a flair for architecture, nature or story-telling, unleash your creativity and experience the endless possibilities photography has to offer!
Focusing on UN SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SYPA 2018 invites young photographers to envision and capture their ideas of sustainable urban scapes and societies. According to the UN Sustainable Development Agenda, more than half the world’s population now live in urban areas. By 2050, that figure will have risen to 6.5 billion people – two-thirds of all humanity. To achieve sustainable development, we will need to ensure safe, clean and green cities, and equal access to opportunities and basic services. In line with CDL’s own commitment to ‘Conserve as we Construct’, this edition of SYPA intends to groom young photographic talents and future advocates for sustainability.
