Outdoor Film Screening: Wagner, Genius in Exile. | 25 August | 8:30pm

A documentary film where Antoine Wagner traces the trail of his great-great-grandfather, Richard Wagner’s exile to Switzerland. Antoine interviews Wagner scholars and musicians, including Eva Rieger, Dagny Beidler, and Philippe Jordan.

It is during his exile that Richard Wagner wrote and composed most of his great operas in contact with a grandiose, violent Nature and amazing landscapes which were a profound source of inspiration to him.

Followed by dialogue discussion facilitated by John Gee from Richard Wagner Association (Singapore). This event is in partnership with Richard Wagner Association (Singapore).

Outdoor Live Music Scoring: Magnum Photos, Aik Beng Chia, Mindy Tan, and musicians from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts | 26 August | 7:30pm

In conjunction with Magnum Photos’ 70th Anniversary, and a special collaboration with YAMAHA Singapore and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts School of Music, young Singaporean composer Lim Han Quan and percussionist Kevin Tan performs a live scoring with the company of projections of the celebrated Magnum Photos and aspiring Singaporean photographers, Aik Beng Chia and Mindy Tan.

Feast your eyes and ears on iconic photographs by Steve McCurry, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Martin Parr and Hiroji Kubota. The quasi-improvisatory music is a reaction to the emotions evoked by the images along such themes as monotony, nostalgia, urban life and loneliness, freedom, love and celebrations.
