A Studio of One’s Own is a series of weekly online dialogue sessions that seeks to reach out internationally to the quiet voices of Southeast Asia, catching up on their changing creative routines having been confined to their own home space. In casual conversation with DECK, the invited artists will share their thoughts on creativity and creation under lockdown and the impact of quarantine on their respective practices and involvement in the scene.
With closed borders forcing art to be increasingly localised, this online initiative serves as a means of connecting and sustaining cross-cultural sharing of experiences in a global network. The dialogue will feature artists’ new work, works-in-progress during the quarantine period, and their personal woes with regards to the pandemic, in hopes of creating a wider space for such cross-border sharing.
