Displayed within Renner Piano Co (est. 1943) are four artworks by Song-Ming Ang, whose artistic practice explores how we, as humans, connect to music. Made via simple, self-imposed constraints, Ang’s artworks feel both serious and playful as he works with old instruments and forms to create new ones. In particular, the video Parts and Labour, in which Ang refurbishes a piano, resonates with the life story of Mr Ho, who took over Renner Piano Co from his father in the 1980s.
