What Artists Read Vol. 9: Marvin Tang
Marvin Tang

  • This event has passed.

We’re starting September the right way with a book sharing dialogue with Singaporean visual artist Marvin Tang. Catch him on Facebook LIVE on the 12th of  September, 2pm-3pm.

Marvin Tang (b.1989) is a visual artist from Singapore who uses photography as a tool of investigation. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the School of Art, Design and Media (NTU) and Masters in Photography at the University of the Arts London. His research is motivated by the need to understand how identity and social habits are shaped by various narratives and governmental policies. By examining the contemporary landscapes, he works towards establishing a new understanding of our environment that defines our being.

What Artists Read is an artist-led book sharing programme that hopes to ignite an innate interest to explore books beyond conventional reading material. This programme provides audiences with the opportunity to hear from artists on books that inspire and shape their practice and voice. Held in DECK’s own library of photobooks collected and donated from around the world, the sharing session also hopes to create an awareness of DECK’s resource-rich open library and to encourage a deeper engagement with books and photography.
