About

Presented by City Developments Limited (CDL), the biennial Singapore Young Photographer Award (SYPA) was launched in 2006. It aims to raise the standards of photographic art in Singapore and promote photography amongst the young by recognising and nurturing budding talents. Initiated by the late Mr Kwek Leng Joo, Deputy Chairman of CDL, SYPA is an extension of the photo tribute “To Singapore with Love” in celebration of Singapore’s 40th birthday in 2005.

Event Description

About the Award Night and Exhibition
With growing concern about climate change and its threats on the planet and people, SYPA 2018 was revamped to raise awareness and cultivate stronger interest among youths in humanity and the environment. The United Nations (UN) adopted the Sustainable Development Agenda in 2015, where the world committed to achieving 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, to promote prosperity while protecting the planet and its people. Governments, companies and civil society have taken up the mantle of the Goals to do their part in ensuring a socially and environmentally sustainable future.

Canon Singapore is the Official Imaging Partner for SYPA 2018 Award Showcase.
