About

If there were to be one photographer whom many others owe great artistic debts to, it would undoubtedly be German collaborative duo Bernd and Hilla Becher. The Bechers, through obsessive documentation of disappearing industrial architecture and structures in late 1950s Germany, pioneered the discovery of the photographic typology – a minimalist, taxonomic classification of images by their inherent forms and patterns. This new vision, objective, deadpan and minimalist in nature, took the world by storm.

TYPES: After Becher is not only a tribute to the Bechers, but a celebration of the diversity of refreshing artistic possibilities that have emerged in Asia from a re-interpretation of their vision.
