About
Between the photographer and the moment captured lies an unseen thread — the breath before the shutter, the quiet that follows, and the unspoken exchange between gaze and lens. Within these intervals reside stories the photograph cannot fully reveal.
In Knots of Time: Marriage Then and Now, veteran photographer Leong Ka Tai contemplates what draws two lives together and sustains them through time. Each portrait becomes a conversation about love and companionship — about promises made, and the tender resilience that transcends race, culture, and circumstance.
Presented here are 41 portraits and their stories — of public figures and of everyday individuals alike. Through Leong’s attentive eye, their faces and words speak of the invisible knots that hold us — of time passing, yet love enduring.
