Concluding the 5th & 6th edition of DECK’s Artist-in-Residence (AiR) programme is an afternoon dialogue with MM Yu and Poklong Anading. Before that, we welcome you to be part of Poklong’s ongoing body of work, Anonymity.

Artist-in-Residence #05/#06

Artist-in-Residence (A.i.R.) is a year-round programme that aims to nurture new and experimental photographic endeavours in Singapore and Asia. The platform provides the opportunity and resources for artists to focus on developing their practice and creating new works. Each edition of A.i.R. concludes with a showcase of new creations, accompanied by public talks and/or workshops helmed by the artist.

DECK A.i.R #04: A Solo Exhibition by Hu Qiren

DECK is proud to announce the opening of our fourth edition of Artist-in-Residency Exhibition! (A.i.R #04) Join us at the opening night of Hu Qiren’s solo exhibition at DECK on the 7th of August, at 7pm. Admission is free, refreshments will be provided. This exhibition marks the first Singapore solo presentation of works by Hu Qiren (b. 1983, Singapore).

DECK A.i.R #04 Open Studio: Hu Qiren

A combination of photography, video, objects and installation will illuminate the residency’s ethos to nurture new, experimental photographic endeavours in Singapore and Asia, while at the same time casting a spotlight on Qiren’s ongoing investigation on collective memory, value systems and the questioning of institutional structures. Come meet the artist and peek into his new works in creation at DECK’s cosy artist studio.

Artist in Residence Tristan Cai

Tristan Cai is an artist who works between Singapore/Washington D.C. His research-based art critically reflects the veracity of our histories and the ways which we have culturally synthesized knowledge in relation to our visual culture.

From Darkness to Light

The artist residency is a progress of the project of Javanese photo studio, presented with a group of Indonesian photographic artist collective. From Darkness to Light questions the relevance of Kartini as the nation feminist model in the historiography of Indonesia.
