POV: Photowalk at Jalan Besar is a journey of self-expression, guided by photographer Benjamin Tan in the charming neighbourhood of Jalan Besar. This programme invites participants to explore using photography to uncover insights into themselves and create stories that are unique to their personalities.

Engage in image-creating that deeply explores your surroundings through creative and abstract perspectives. Share your thoughts and insights on mindfulness using photography through communal discussions.

About instructor

Benjamin Tan is a full-time photographer and educator, having previously worked in the social services sector, with a passion in using photography to make a positive impact on mental health. He engages students and audiences by encouraging them to explore the deeper meanings behind their work, asking ‘why’ within the ‘what.’

Ben conducts photography workshops infused with social awareness and curates exhibitions that address various social issues. Notably, he curated ‘Mental Pictures’ at the Singapore International Photography Festival in 2022, showcasing local film photographers’ perspectives on mental health.
