About
John Clang’s practice focuses on the marking of time, detailing existential issues of everyday people. In 2013, a showcase of over 90 works by Clang was exhibited at the National Museum of Singapore. His debut and second feature, had their world premieres at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2018 and 2020 respectively. To date, he is still the first and only photographer to receive the President’s Designer of the Year award, Singapore’s most prestigious design accolade.
A Studio of One’s Own is a series of weekly online dialogue sessions that seeks to reach out internationally to the quiet voices of Southeast Asia, catching up on their changing creative routines having been confined to their own home space. In casual conversation with DECK, the invited artists will share their thoughts on creativity and creation under lockdown and the impact of quarantine on their respective practices and involvement in the scene.
